A LUV-ly Giveaway

*This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for entering. Winner will be announced soon.

I pray about my blog.

Sounds silly or even crazy (especially considering some of things I do here), but it is what it is.

I pray that I will be effective.

I pray that I will make a difference.

I pray that God will use my words to impact someone's life.

And so, when the Luvs Diaper people contacted me about sharing $5 off coupons with my readers and possibly a giveaway, I nearly deleted it.

Mainly because we are out of the diaper stage. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. I like to write from my own experiences and because we still love The Wipe and use them for unintended purposes, (I mopped the floor with one on the bottom of my foot yesterday) I decided to fire back an email.

I spent a few minutes reminiscing about our first diaper days when I would scrounge Ebay for diaper coupons. I remember the place in our budget marked diapers and how I tried to squeeze every penny out of that column.

I remember a friend passing along a megapack of diapers her baby had outgrown and I'll never forget how something so insignificant made such a huge difference in our month.

And so, I asked Luvs for something significant for someone special.

Because I pray about my blog.

I pray that I will be effective.

I pray that I will make a difference in someone's life.

Today, with the help of  Luvs and their "Take a Stand" campaign, I am giving away a SIX MONTH SUPPLY of their fine diapering products, plus a cool diaper bag ($250.00 value) on my blog.

I know this giveaway won't apply to everyone. But will you take a minute and think of someone who needs this? Please leave their name or your relationship (for their privacy) in the comment as your entry.

This giveaway will close on Tuesday, the day the $5.00 Luvs coupons will be available. It's a limited supply, so mark your calendars.

Y'all have a great weekend! And don't forget to remember 9/11
*Please understand that I am not receiving anything for hosting this giveaway

She is working in the kitchen of a nursing home, and they are encouraging her to become a CNA, then continue working toward's Emilie's dream of becoming a nurse. I loved getting diapers from people who tried a brand they didn't like, their child outgrew, or were gifts.

It was a huge lifesaver when money was tight right after my son was born.

Thank you for offering this - I would love to win it!

I just finished reading my friend Daisy's blog- in it she simply expressed how surreal it was to buy Annabella's carseat and stroller- Annabella isn't due for a few more months, and she is truly a blessing to Daisy and her husband Andy. A blessing because Daisy and Andy suffered a miscarriage with their first child. Shortly after, they were relocated by Uncle Sam to Hawaii, and then Andy was deployed, shortly after finding out that they were expecting again.

And the first blog post to pop up in my feedreader after Daisy's? Yours. Very best wishes to whomever the winner will be, and thank you and Luv's for easing some of the burden so that new parents can make the most of their time with the newest additions to their family.

You have a terrific blog!

WOW! Winning this prize would be HUGE for my family. We are in our second year of full time ministry. We feel very blessed, however it is not the most lucrative career. We just had our second child in March, and are still trying to get used to budgeting for items such as diapers, wipes, and other baby necessities. Like you say, people passing on their leftover baby items really go a LONG way in the monthly finances. Please consider us for the giveaway.

And as a side note, I was driving around running my errands yesterday, and I was thinking of your blog. It is a true encouragement to me as I try to raise my kiddos for the Lord. Many days, your writing puts me in the right mindset to start the crazy days of mommyhood.

My sister, Ruth Ann, would benefit greatly from this giveaway. Her husband has recently been laid-off from Caterpillar (central IL) and they have 4 foster children (with the intention of adopting). All 4 are in diapers! (even the 6 year-old w/special needs). As you mentioned in your original post, the cost of diapers can change your month. This is especially true in my sister's family. Thanks for considering her!

I'm entering this drawing on behalf of a good friend of mine. She is an unwed mother of 2 (one is nearly one years old and second baby is going to be born any day now- the due date is the 16th of Sept!) She and her boyfriend have been coming to church with me for a while now and I am trying to love her into the Kingdom. This would be such an amazing blessing is their lives and testimoney to them of God's faithfulness and the love of christians for others. No matter who wins I just want to thank you for being a light and a witness, blessings to you and your family!

Gigi said...

Kristen I love your blog (like countless others) and think it is absolutely normal that you pray about it! Where would we be without prayer?

I am writing to suggest someone to "win" your diaper giveaway. I don't know if you'll be choosing the winner, having your readers vote for a nominee, or if it will be random, but if you choose, I know the family I am going to tell you about would be forever grateful to be the recipient of such a gift.

A dear friend of mine passed away last Wednesday, September 9. She was 28 years old and left her husband and four small children behind. My friend found out she had AML leukemia while she was expecting her fourth child and she fought it. Hard. She started chemo and the doctors prepared to deliver the baby who was very early. Matthew is fine, but he will never know his mother. Right now he is only four months old. The other children are 5, 3 and 1 1/2.

My friend lived her life serving God and her family and was a wonderful friend and example to many. I will miss her more than I can adequately express.

Kristen, my request is simple. Please choose Annie - or rather her family - as the recipient of your Luvs diaper giveaway if you can.

Thank you and God bless you.

Stonefox said...

Kristen, with all the entries there is no way I'll win, but this is one I could really use.

I have three in diapers, yes T-H-R-E-E. Not fun and certainly not the kind of fragrant you like your home known for.

I tell my husband that if we set aside the money we spend on diapers after they are out of them, we'll have enough to send them to college...anywhere!

Thanks Luvs, for the chance to better our bottoms.

I think praying over your blog is great. Did not the Lord tell us to pray over everything that we have dominion over?

I thought of my dear daughter in law who has been a tower of strenght while my son has been in Iraq. He left when their newest child was 4 days old. He was home on a 7 day leave when she was born and they had 4 sweet days together before he left. She is now almost 6 months old and has no idea that she even has a daddy. When he comes home, he comes home to no job and a wife and 2 kids to support. This would make such a difference to them.

My sweet cousin in law and her husband just welcomed naturally conceived triplets to their family. This mother never had to do bedrest, never had to be admitted to the hospital, and all three babies were born without the need for Oxygen, NICU, and they all weighed 4.5 pounds or more. To me, this story represents God's plan. These babies were put on this earth for a reason. God has a plan for them that we don't yet know. the3welshsatmsndotcom

What a way to "be the blessing" to another person! While we could always use diapers, my friend, Deborah, could use them much more. She just had her second child 3 weeks ago. 3 months before delivery, she was diagnosed with a blood clot on her lung. She has been giving herself shots daily since then and needs to continue for another 2 months at least. AFTER insurance, the shots cost $1,000 PER MONTH! This young family is pinching every penny to make it through this lean time. Diapers would be a great blessing to them.

I would love to give this to a friend of mine who is pregnant with her 11th child! The main item she asked for at her upcoming baby shower was... diapers! Diapers DO mean a lot when you're in the midst of it. I'm done now, but it's not hard to remember when I had as many as 3 children in diapers at once - it was usually two. Blessings on you and your blog!

I'd like to enter for my family.
Though, this is one "contest" I wouldn't mind losing with all of these touching responses.
This is my first visit here. I'll certainly be coming back.

I've got two in diapers, so this would certainly be a blessing.

I would love these for my son

Oh how I would love to win this giveaway but I am still able to penny pinch wisely so I would nominate my BFF she just found out she was 4 weeks prego with baby #3( her last year has been very stressful losing her mother and grnadmother so baby is defianatly a surprise) Her oldest is 7 and youngest just turned 2 last month. Now all I need to do is plan a trip to your house so me and you can go on a getaway and leave my 2yo with your hubby so when I come back he is potty trained...Everybody/Everything needs prayer so you are not crazy and so glad you didn't delete LUV'S email...hapy picking

This would be such an awesome prize to win! My husband is working and going to school at night and I'm home with our 4 kids (one of which is still in diapers) so money is tight! This would be such a huge blessing!!!

My son and dil have a 8 month old son and just found out they are expecting another one due the end of March 2010. They can definitely use diaper help.

Since we're not potty-trained yet, we can still use these - plus we have 2 new godchildren this summer and I know their families could benefit!

wow, this is amazing. i think it's great they are offering this, especially in these times when everyone seems to be having trouble finding the money for everything. I'm entering on behalf of my friend. She's actually in labor right now and will hopefully welcome her boy into the world tomorrow. Her and her boyfriend are having work troubles and she's fairly young, so they really could use this and she deserves it.

I always want most give-aways. But this one, this one I NEEEEEED! Hubby was laid off over 18 months ago and he is our only source of income...Needless to say, unemployment just doesn't cut, especially for this long! How very sweet of you to put this up and give one very lucky person a chance to win! You rock!

My friend sings your blog's praises. The times I have been here I can see why. I don't generally enter contests because I just don't feel like I would win. Well, I decided to try this time. I am pregnant with my 4th blessing and my 3rd one is only 13 months old. We are having to upgrade lots of the things and freeing up a little money not having to buy some diapers would be a God send. PS I like you am a huge sweet tea fan. God's nectar! LOL

I could use these diapers as well. Thanks for the opportunity!

I would like the diapers, but I also know that I could share with the students that live in my community at church. They are pinching pennies too but have decided that having a family is important.

This is such a great giveaway and I think that it's great that you pray for your blog. It's amazing what God can do once you give something to him. Very awesome.

Also, if I win, I will be using the diapers on my 13 month old. We can always use diapers.

I was gonna enter this giveaway for my daughter, but after reading some of these stories i realized that there are many other people that need it more than she does. Good luck to everyone!

This would make such a difference in the life of a young co-worker of mine. Ali is pregnant and due in the next two weeks. She is 20 years old, and things are not very stable with her and the baby's father. This would be a huge help to this first time mother, who is also single and trying to make it on her own. I'm married and have three babies of my own, so I am not able to help Ali as much as I would like to.
Thank you,
Shelly

Wow, what a blessing these diapers would be if I won! I have 2 little ones under 19 months and so this would be a huge help! I love that you pray over your blog, it is not silly in the least...when you have this many people reading YOUR blog it can influence the lives of many. I have a blog also and also pray for anyone who comes across it that it would bless them in some way. Thanks again!

I would like to nominate my sister.
Her and her husband, along with 4 daughters, are missionaries in Kenya.
They will be coming back to the U.S. after 4 years, in April.
She has 2 in diapers, and on a missionary salary, you can imagine how much 6 months of free diapers would help.
Thanks for doing this!!!
