I'm Unworthy

This was sitting on my bed when I got home.

I seriously don't think I deserve my man, y'all.

He bought lovely coordinating pieces from my favorite store, in the correct size and on clearance! (Nothing in that bag was over $6.97).

I am unworthy.

And I am in trouble.  My hubby's birthday is in about a week and a half. And I need help!

I really want to knock his socks off with a creative, affordable gift.

Got any ideas?

Is there a toy from his childhood that he wishes he had gotten as a child but never received?

My hubs never got a GI Joe with a kung fo grip so I jumped on ebay and they had one! It now sits proudly on his desk...still in the box. Now he can say that he got one and he proudly shows it off :}

Hope that helps....

Hugs!

Oh now THAT is a way to a woman's heart. No advice on his gift though, I buy my husband football tickets for him and his buddies every single year. Boring.

You are so blessed to have such a wonderful husband. I wish I had a suggestion for a gift, but my hubby and I always do something for ourselves as a couple rather than individual gifts.

How about actually 'knocking his socks off' (wink, wink)....that might just be the perfect gift!

This year for our Anniversary I had a photo of the two of us made black & white and blown up. It was a captured intimate moment of him bending down to kiss my head and smell my hair. I framed it and hung it in our room, flanked by two small floating shelved that have candles on them.

What about something simple like that?

BTW Kudos to your smart and loving man!

Well, one year we made my husband openly sob explosively with a gift we got him. The kids each had a blank book. On a few of the pages they wrote things like,

I like it when Dad...
I know Dad loves me because....
I get mad when Dad....
It's funny when Dad....
Dad does __________ better than Mom.
The best thing Dad has ever done is . . . .
You get the picture.

Then they each drew a litte picture to go with each entry.

We worked on ours for over a month. Maybe you could do something like this for Christmas. The explosive crying was sooooooooo worth it!

Just stopping by your site and thought I'd leave a comment...

That hubby of yours sure sounds like a keeper...he bought you clothes from a GREAT store and they were on sale too. You sure trained him right!

Now for a gift idea...how about getting both of you a gift certificate for a massage...but schedule them for the same time. I know there are places where you can get a massage with a friend. It would be fun and romantic at the same time.

P.S. He loves you... said...

Does he like the "cowboys"???

There's an idea...

Tickets to his favorite sporting, music event... even if it's months away.

I like the massage idea... follow it up with a romantic dinner at home... minus the kids. Followed by "dessert."

Think of 365 things that you love and appreciate about your hubby. Type them on individual "business cards" and place them in a small box. You know, one for each day of the next year.

Gift certificates to get his car detailed.

DVD's of his favorite TV show. One from his childhood would be fun.

That's it... I'm out. I'll come back if I think of more.

Where did you find that guy? Plan a whole day for the birthday boy. Drop the kids off with Grandma and "Do Your Thing Honey!"

wow, what a guy! I have no idea what to suggest, but I'm definitely marking this thread because there are some awesome suggestions here.

A couple of ideas.. Is he a big movie watcher? I sometimes buy the unpopped bucket of popcorn from the movie store and fill it with a movie or two, drinks, and candy. You could treat him to a night IN for just the two of you.

My husband is so hard to buy for because he never asks for anything. One thing he's been wanting is a massage, and to eat at PF Changs because he's never been. I wanted to do that for him this year.

Good luck!

You could be frying him up a nice big steak when he gets home from work in nothing but an apron!! :) I bet he would be talking about that for years to follow.

How about a baby sitter and a night out...just the two of you?

Valarie said...

I can not believe he did that! My hubby, would not even know who Ann Taylor was or where the store would happen to be. You are sooooo lucky. :)

I would have suggested socks, but you said you wanted to knock his socks OFF, so that wouldn't work...

I second the movie/ popcorn bucket idea or the childhood toy he never received. I am so lacking in the creative gift-giving department, I have no fresh ideas for you.

Another comment to tell you I'm giving you an award on my blog. I love stopping by here every morning!

I also have an award for you over on my blog! :)

Is he forgetful??? What I did one year for my then boyfriend, is I made a calendar with various pictures of us (in this case it can be your family) and put all the important dates.. anniversaries (ours & his parents), birthdays (his family's, mine & his), etc etc. Then laminated it and gave him a dry erase marker so he can add to it. Maybe print stickers on address labels with extras to put where he sees fit in the calendar. Like 2 that say night out alone, 2 that say family day out __blank__ so he can chose what yall do on the outing and a couple that say "guys day".
Creative & not too expensive.. If you print your own pictures it should come out to less than $10.
******
And another one I did was more for valentines.. I made a story book of our story (well, my side anyway).. Of how we came to be. Who introduced us, what my initial thought of him was, where our first date was, our first kiss...

I also LOVE to make shirts with those printable transfers... You can make something that says "Most handsome birthday boy" or some silly phrase.

I don't know...what was in the sack? That would give us a clue as to how to help you on YOUR gift to him...
Who am I to suggest anything back to you....you the queen of creativity!!!! But I will think on it!!!! Have a great day .

Electronics make my husbands heart go pitter patter. Ann Taylor for you, Best Buy for him? My husband calls it Man Flowers. LOL. Does he have a GPS? What are his hobbies?

Think of something sentimental. Usually husbands can buy things they really want or need, so I Love sentimental gifts. My husband and his father were best friends. My father in law passed away just before Christmas after only 50 days with cancer. For D's birthday, I found some letters his daddy had written them & had them framed. Now he will have them forever in a place where he will see them regularly. Perhaps you could frame some old love letters from you to him w/ a pic of the 2 of you? Or does he have a hero in his father? That's my two cents! I know you'll think of something wonderful. I LOVE that he bought you the clothes! So sweet.

There are some great ideas in here... don't know how I could add to it. I am sure you will do well. I remember your Father's Day gift to him, you know how to treat him right... and the Rascal Flatts tickets, was that V-day?

If I come up with anything I will be back... I've had this up and minimized all day and have yet to get some brilliant idea..

WOW!!! I love him for you!!! That is super great of him!!! Can you ask him to call my man?
My guy's birthday is coming up too on the 15th - no clue what to get him!

What an awesome husband!

My husband would not set foot in a woman's clothing store, much less attempt to actually BUY something. No way.

~John Eldridge's book Wild at Heart on cd...my husband rarely has time to read but he listens to cd's on the way to and from work! He has listened to it 2 or 3 times already.
~a telescope...something he can do with the kids! And it's educational!
~matching his & hers tees from frommetees.com that say 'my wife rocks' or 'my husband rocks'

Whoa, what a man. You are going to have to do something amazing. Unfortunately, all my suggestions are not appropriate for your family friendly blog.

PS- is Ann having a sale and no one told me?!

That's my favorite too! I LOVE driving to the nearby outlet mall to hit Ann Taylor petites and see what is on clearance.
YEA your man
YEA you!

Can you send the kids away for the night either with family and friends? Go out to eat, a movie, etc., etc. It is SO nice to every once in a while wake up in the morning without someone jumping on your head or demanding breakfast at 6am! He deserves a great birthday!
Take care,
Julie
