I just asked for movie tickets for my family for Mother's Day weekend. We've got plans, baby!

BABIES

The adventure of a lifetime begins…

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Balmès, from an original idea by producer Alain Chabat, Babies simultaneously follows four babies around the world – from birth to first steps. The children are, respectively, in order of on-screen introduction:

- Ponijao, who lives with her family near Opuwo, Namibia

- Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani

- Mari, who lives with her family in Tokyo, Japan

- Hattie, who resides with her family in the United States, in San Francisco.

Re-defining the nonfiction art form, Babies joyfully captures on film the earliest stages of the journey of humanity that are at once unique and universal to us all.

If you have a minute, watch the short movie trailer. You'll be glad you did!

Favorite thing about being a mom - it has shown me how God loves His children! AMAZING! As much as I love my son (and it hurts my heart it's so much) - God loves us so much more and His love is perfect!

I cannot wait to see that movie!!!

My favorite thing about being a mom? I have to list just one?

That I am the go-to person when my kids are sad or hurting. I'm the comforter. It fills my heart with awe and wonder that I was chosen to be their mother, to nurture them.

Tara said...

One of my favorite things about my mom is how giving she is. She has given up a week each month since January to come and help me as I am prepping to be a mommy for the first time. Selflessness! :) Can't wait to see this movie!

My favorite thing about being a mom is all the snuggles I get from my kids. Once when I was tucking in my son for the night, he laid his little hand on my cheek and said, "I wuv you Mama." Those puddle moments make it all worth it.

I had no idea about this movie til I saw it here, looks great!

I love the way my 8 month old snuggles with me and gives me hugs. She can't tell me she loves me, but she shows me every day.

This movie sounds interesting ... I'll have to put it on my to-see list (which is quite long, by the way).

My favorite part of being a mother? Goodnight hugs and kisses, especially when my boys ask for them!

My favorite thing about my mom? The fact that she left the US on her 60th birthday to go to the other side of the world to do mission work, where she knew no one and had to learn the language once she got there. Learning language is hard, but gets harder as you get older. Plus, she left behind family and friends and she's a very social person. I admire her for stepping put in faith, trusting that God would take care of her (which HE has).

Moose said...

My favorite part of being a mom is the cuddles and snuggles. They are only little for so long!

I have to say that my favorite thing about being a mother is how my kids just know who I am! I am so Proud when my kids accomplish new milestones. And I love that when I leave them even for 5 minutes my kids light up like I am the best thing to walk into the room! I love being a mother!

But after the youngest boy turned 10 we decided to have another baby...and low and behold it was a GIRL. Oh my! she is my partner in crime. I LOVE doing Mother/Daughter things with her. My kids are the best.

I've been waiting to see this movie! When I first saw the trailer I immediately thought of my mom... she's where I get my love for babies. Maybe we'll be able to see it together.

My favorite thing about being a mom? These little people! Oh, these little people. They're just their own individuals. There are bits of me and bits of my husband, but God has made them entirely their own people!

There are so many things I love about being a Mom, but one of them is watching my children learn new things. Not only do they get excited when they learn something new but now my older children are teaching my youngest and they get just as excited when he learns something new as he does.

My favorite thing about being a mom (so far):

When I walk into Asa's room when he first wakes up in the morning. As soon as I open the door I can hear him start to giggle. Once he can see my face looking down on him in his crib he full on laughs and waves his arms excitedly. I pick him up and he buries his face in my shoulder and laughs some more. He's just so happy to be awake and to see his mommy!

Karrie said...

Wow, looks like a really neat movie, I can't wait to see it!

What I love about being a mom the most...
babies would be...the bond when nursing. And the cuddles of co-sleeping. I love those snuggle times!
Bigger kids....How they are usually so helpful and sweet. (I said usually right!?)And how at 10 mt son still wants me to tuck him in at night and cuddle before he slips off to dream land! :)

My favorite mom moment is when my son was 16. We were waiting for a table at a popular restaurant. Two elderly ladies came in and didn't have a place to sit and wait. None of the adult men offered them a seat, but my 16 year old jumped up and offered these lovely ladies his seat (without any prompting from me).

They ladies were quite taken with my son, and I was so proud of him.

I am ever grateful to my mom for praying for me: through my childhood, teen years, singlehood, marriage, and mothering.

And the greatest privilege I have as a mom is to turn to Jesus in prayer for my children. My mom was a great example, and I delight in turning over my cares and concerns, hopes and dreams, everything on my heart about my children to the One who can make a difference.

Wow!- being a mommy is THE most profound experience of my life. When my daughter was born it was like the Earth shifted for me. Everything was different. There are so many wonderful things about this thing called Mommyhood- where do I begin! Some of my favorites are chunky monkey legs, dimples on a baby's hands, the smell of a newborn, the sweet, sloppy kisses from my 1 year olds, the dirty hands and smiles of my 2 year olds, and the way my 4 year old sees the world around her. Tonight she said... "Momma- isn't God just...so, so, AMAZING ?? I mean, he made people and everything! just out of dust and dirt!!" I just loved hearing that! I love to hear their giggles, and watching them sleep, seriously, I could go on and on!!

I can't even begin to pick my favorite thing about being a mom...

... being needed...
... being loved unconditionally...
... goodnight hugs and big, sloppy, wet kisses...
... the way my middle kiddo walks through the house yelling, "mommy! are you?!"...
... being the one to kiss owies and make everything alright...
... that gummy smile that my 3 month old gives me each time our eyes meet...
... watching my oldest grown up to be a wonderful boy...
... the feel of their little bodies next to mine...

How to pick!?

I love being a mom! This mothers day is a very special mothers day. I am now the mother of 2 boys Benjamin 3 and Steven 1 month. My pregnancy with Steven was not an easy one. from 25 weeks along my pretty normal pregnancy turned into a complete nightmare. we went in for an ultra sound and were told we had a good chance Steven would be born with downs. after LOTS of testing and specialists my pregnancy went down hill fast. new years eve day I had a follow up ultra sound and ended up spending 4days in hospital. I spent new years eve alone, without my husband and 3 year old son. from there I developed issues with my liver, gestational diabetes, and my blood pressure continued to go dangerously high. We were told to prepare for a very little baby and 3 days past new years I was preped with an IV to give birth. by the grace of God and tons of praying I was sent home the next day. I was what the doctors called a medical mystery" to them. the next 3 months were a blur of hospital stays, bed rest, checking blood suger and blood pressure etc.. and finally March 29th Steven was born emergency c-section. my blood pressure shot up so high they were all scared I was going to have a stroke. This mothers day means a lot to me because I gave birth to a happy healthy little boy. 8lbs 6 oz 20 1/2 inches long. God blessed me that day and everyday with an amazing life, 2 healthy happy boys, an amazing husband and air in my lungs. looking back at those months I am shocked Im still alive. everyday has become a bit more special to me now, and I never again will take it for granted.

My favorite thing about being a mom is watching my babies sleep :o)

It's just amazing, to watch them, so peaceful, breathing slowly and deeply, realizing over and over again that I love them so much it actually hurts.

Then they wake up and the real 'fun' begins :o)

I <3 being a mom... it's the hardest, most wonderful, most overwhelming, most rewarding job there is, and it's the only job I've ever wanted!!

Oh so many beautiful moments, when they first lie on your chest, after a bath. But my very favorite momment as a momma is leading four of my five babies to Christ's saving grace. #5 is still a peanut, but I so love sharing God's love with her. They are my life, my purpose, my all. Knowing their salvation is secure... There is nothing more this mom needs.

The best part about being a mother? The miracle of feeling your very own baby growing inside of you and then the automatic connection that is there the moment he's born. A connection that grows stonger with every passing year. To look at him and see myself - or my husband. That he is the living, breathing, flesh product of the love between my husband and I. Could anything be better than that?

So hard to put into words the favorite thing about my mom or about being a mom, but I guess it boils down to the same thing on both sides - the joy of unconditional love. Once we pass that baby stage we do move to a place where we are not as fond of mothers for a time in our lives; being told what to do, what not to do, how to act, all those things that she does because she loves us. We grow and fall back into that place when we realize why mom did her best to help us be the best people we could be. Then, we have our own and that head over heels inconditional love springs a new from our hearts. We are on the other side and realize how hard it is. We love our own children more every day and realize that our mom feels the same way about us. No other relationahip in the world like that between a mother and child, at any age!

It would end up being a book, so I'll spare your comments section. =) But I can tell you my favorite part of being a Mom today! I love to see the love I have for them mirrored in their eyes. My little eight month old just beams when he sees me and he just started reaching his chubby little arms up for me. I am sick right now and my two older ones who are 6 and 4 have such compassion and want to take care of me so well. Such love. It's amazing to see how my pathetic amount of love in comparison to God's love can make a difference in their lives. And the fact that they love a very imperfect me! Amazing.

I love the way that my three daughters smile, and how they get so excited to make me proud, like when they clean their rooms.... but keeping it real, this isn't a daily routine ;) haha!

What I love most about being a mother, is loving on my kids and helping them become who God created them to be!

Let's see, I'll do both just for fun. My favorite thing about being a mother? Walking in to retrieve my babies from their cribs after naptime! My toddler always greets me with a big smile and endless happy chatter. My 7-month-old flaps his arms up and down and pumps his legs as he lays there...definitely showing me how happy he is to see me. THIS makes my day! My favorite thing about my own mother? I'll always be her baby...no matter how old I am. I love our relationship now that I have children of my own. We connect in so many different ways!

I've got two girls, 6 1/2 and 5. And a baby on the way in September. So right now some of my mothering attention is focused on the new one. My favorite thing about pregnancy is the little movements, and how each one makes me fall more in love with that baby. And I love seeing the beautiful people my girls are turning into.

My favorite thing about being a mother is getting to be a kid again through their eyes. I had so much more fun doing things like Disneyworld when I got to see the wonder in my children's eyes than when I was a child myself.

My favorite part about being a mom is when I hear my 2 year old say, "Mommy, I wanna hold you." I'll never get tired of hearing that - or holding her for that matter. Thanks for a great giveaway! Can't wait to see that movie!

Not a mother yet :)
But my favorite thing about MY mother...? She still isn't done having kids! She's adopted 1 baby girl and is hoping to adopt a second (as well as fosters a bunch). AND, she's forgiven me for all the stupid stuff I did as a kid. And a teen. Lots of stupid stuff as a teen.
(And my twin and her husband are pregnant, she would love this prize pack!)

That movie looks great! I saw a commercial for it at least twice this past weekend.

My favorite thing about being a mother is hearing "I love you" from my kids, whether it be the 3 year old in his cute little voice, or the 15 year old one the phone when I know he's with his friends. It's great to know he's not embarrassed to say it. I love it from my 12 year old who is getting moody and I'm not sure how often I'll hear it from her in the years to come. I love it from my 8 year old as he's heading out the door for school, although the 5th or 6th time I just want to yell, "Just go to school already!"

Hearing "I love you" is definitely the best part of being a mother.

Oh wow, I don't know that this little box has enough space for all the wonderful things about my Mother! I suppose top on the list would be that she was always a Mother first, then my best friend. She has instilled in me values that I pray I can instill in my daughters. She is a woman of upstanding morals, godly and it goes without saying that she is a nuturer beyond words. She is a Mother through and through. I love being able to say that I myself am a Mama and one day I pray that my lil ones will speak sweet words of me.

My mom is the greatest! She has always been there to help me through everything. She is my best friend and we can talk and giggle about everything. She has always given up things for herself so that she could take care of her 5 kids. Now, she takes care of my disabled younger brothers and her parents and never complains about not having a day to herself.

I, too, can't wait to see this movie!

My favorite thing about my Mom is her unconditional love for me! I put my sweet mom through so much and she just loves me. I didn't get that at all until I became a mother too. I can't think of a single thing my kids could ever do that would cause me to not love them. Sometimes I want to give them away, but I'm sure I'd miss them! ;)

That looks like a wonderful movie! My favorite thing about being a mother, is that after one of "those" days, my 11-year-old still wants to snuggle on the couch and still wants to be read to and tucked in at night!

My favorite thing about being a mom is, just when I think I'm spent and can't give any more or I'm so frustrated I could scream, one of the kiddos tells me how much they love me and I realize while it is the hardest job ever it is also the most rewarding. (Sorry for the run on, and on, and on sentence)

My favorite thing about my mom is that no matter what I do my mom thinks it is cool. Have alot of kids, she thinks it's great. Place mediocre in a triathlon, she still thinks I am the best. And if I do something totally stupid, she always manages to find a way to make it, someone else's fault. :)

My favorite part of being a mother...is my children, of course! :-) I love those first few moments of quiet, when we're all alone, of getting to know my new baby. I also love seeing the world through a toddler's eyes, and I also love watching a young girl blossom into a young woman--as difficult and painful as that can be sometimes.

THANK YOU for telling me about this movie! It looks amazing!

One of my favorite parts of being a mother was always the before bedtime reading a book. Both boys had a favorite, Go Dog Go, One Fish Red Fish etc.

Now..years later I am still reading those same books to my young grandchildren.
A bonus was always the excitement of all the little things in life that as adults we forget to be excited about!

Have a great day.

I admire so much about my mother, but I think what I admire most about her is her consistent example of godly living. She always seems to know and do the right things, and appreciate that so much. I try to be the same kind of mother to my own son, but I know that I have a long way to go!

Ah! Now I know what I want to do for my first Mother's Day!

My favorite thing about my mom is the way she loves me. Hubby and I were talking last night, and I was telling him about the time I was in the hospital after my freshman year of college. During my recovery, my mom would hold my cup of water up for me to drink before I had to tell her I was thirsty. She just knew. I love that about her.

Being a mom is like nothing else on the earth. I think for one it's a great lesson of how God must feel for us (in a small way).
I never knew.....how much I could love anyone until I had my babies.

Now as they've grown.....I love them even more (if that's even possible). I enjoy them. I could sit and talk with them for hours.
I still get excited when I see them at school (I teach where 2 are students).
I'm thankful that God allowed me to be a mother!
