I've seen this awesome idea all over the Internet this month! I wanted to share it here in case it's new to you. I saw it first at
The Pleated Poppy:
I think it's not only a great piece of inexpensive art you can make for your home, it's also a wonderful idea to establish good family rules that are positive and focus on what matters.
The supplies are just a canvas (I used 18x24, but you can use any size you want or already have), painted in a neutral background color. I printed out rules (I used a lot of
hers, but added a few of my own too) on some of my favorite scrapbooking paper. I used 12x12 paper that had to be cut to fit the printer. I also googled
free fonts and downloaded some fun ones.
I found it was cheaper to buy coordinating paper in a package, rather than individual sheets.
There is a lot of cutting in the project. I used modge podge to clue the slips of paper in place. I pieced the rules together and applied the glue on top also to seal it.
Here's mine:
I love having them where we can all read them and remember what our family is all about!

I've seen the "family rules" ideas too, but I love the way you put yours on a canvas! It is absolutely great!
Wow! How cool is this?! We posted about the EXACT SAME thing this week!! Weird. lol. I know you get a trillion posts BUT I would LOVE it if you could come see my Family Rules too. :) Here is the link:

Yours looks awesome! Love your color choices!
Really cute idea! :)
Number 11 is supposed to Say Mom Squad, not Real Life. I didn't want you to think I posted twice from the same blog!
Love your family rules!

I've seen this around too and I think it's so cute!
That is so cute! What a fantastic idea.
Definitely Rules to live by.
I entered my link, but it's not showing up and doesn't let me enter it again... hmmm.

Cute idea! I don't have a lot of extra wall space. But this would be a great idea for personalizing my son's room.
I LOVE this idea! It turned out so cute.
What a great idea! I'll have to keep this one tucked away on my project "to do" list!
very clever and cute too! I posted the 21 rules of this house on plain laminated paper when my kids were growing up...I would much rather have had this attractive option! OH...to be so creatively clever. I had fun participating in the WFMW for the first time. Can't wait for the upcoming themes!
I REALLY like your cabinets. Off subject, I know...but they are so awesome! The rules are cute too. Did you do those cabinets or are they custom??? I have to have my baby first before I can tackle my kitchen project.
We only have two house rules... one is about snakes and the other is about climbing on the roof... both of which I could frankly live without!!!

That's terrific! Love the fonts you chose!
I love it! I've thought of posting some, but this would make it even prettier and noticeable! :D

LOVE this idea ... it's already on my to do list!!! Yours turned out great!
I haven't seen that yet, thanks for sharing, it looks really neat. Thanks for hosting!

I've seen this floating around and think it's such a great idea. We don't really have rules around my house as my osn just does what we tell him. However I could think of other things to put on the board. Your's turned out super!
I have never seen this, and I absolutley love it! I am going to copy!! Thank you for sharing. {grin}
I stumbled on your blog, and I absolutley love it - I am following now!
Great idea!
Glad to be linking up to your party today! I added you linky to my side bar too where I am trying to keep track of the parties out there!
ha! I thought one of the rules said "always GLUE to others first!"...that took a second to figure out... (but hey, you are THAT family so...)
I have a canvas in my garage that I purchased weeks ago to do this with...so does that make me "that mom?" ;)
Oh! This would make a good present for my sister. She is always saying she wants to do something like this...I can get a list of her rules & do it for her. Thanks for the idea!
Apparently, I haven't been "all over the internet" lately! Thanks for posting this idea...it's new to me :-)

I just recently saw these on someone else's site (can't remember now for the life of me!) and LOVED them. I would love to incorporate them into our household but haven't done it yet! Thanks for the reminder and further inspiration!
That is so much prettier than just a hunk of paper stuck on the wall! What a great idea!
This is so cute! I've seen family rules before, especially where they are ordered and just sent back on a sheet of paper. This is so much better! I'm going to start working on mine. I may even make more than one so I can put it up in a couple of places in the house. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!
That is so neat and would be a good family project, too. I will share this with my SIL - maybe she can do something similar with her kids.
This may be a totally stupid question, but if your canvas was 18x24 and the paper was 12x12, did you just have carefully paste the paper back together after it went through the printer?
while our family has family rules inplace I love how you displayed yours
The other day I was thinking about creating a family rules sign. We've been talking a LOT lately about responsibility and taking care of things. I know a family rules sign would be a visual reminder for my guys.
Thanks for the know-how to put a nice one together!
I love this idea! I really want to post our family rules and this makes them looks so very gorgeous! Great idea!!
I love it! Thanks for sharing & allowing me to copy!
That is so cute I love it and will be making it..... THANK YOU...
I love! Plus your header is so awesome - I just sent it to friends. :D
I'm the anonymous poster again. Sorry to comment on the wrong post, but I can't get the other one to let me comment. (I hope you haven't blocked me. LOL) I just went and read your tweets. And I'm soooooo sorry for the sucker punch post. I honestly didn't do it to be mean. I felt like the biggest hypocrite even typing it. I didn't mean to be hurtful AT ALL! I have to say, though that I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!! You are teaching your kids an even bigger lesson by following through with the rest of your repentance. It was a total prompting of the Holy Spirit for me to comment as I did. B/c, believe me, in my flesh I totally would've been fine w/ you NOT telling the school. But I kept thinking, what if one of her kids had stolen some candy. Would it be ok they just admitted to her and told God they were sorry? No, they would need to go back to the store and admit what they'd done and pay the price for that candy. And as parents, we need to do the same.
Again, I'm so sorry for any hurt that it caused you. And I'm sorry if your kids have to be punished. But I pray that your brave actions will be the catalyst of change for a REALLY stupid rule at your kids school.
Way to go!!
Love,
One of your biggest fans
