I wanted to add a touch of Spring to my dining room table (the one that looks pretty, but only gets used on holidays).
But I only wanted to spend zero dollars and no cents.
So, I shopped my house.
I remembered some unused pots I had in the garage. (I had 4 spring green and white ones, so I spray painted two terra-cotta ones with an old can of pink spray paint I found). I tossed in a styrofoam ball into each pot.
Stuffed in some pete moss:
I used some old cutlery (the cheap stuff from WalMart) and stuck the fork into the styrofoam ball. I attached a tag that I decorated with a Spring sticker. It makes the perfect place card and setting!
Pretty cute, huh?

P.S. I LOVE that your entire post comes up in the reader now! THANKS!
Love it! Adorable, and so thrifty!
Oh, I like this, too! But I only have two little forks like that...and they're so good for serving deviled eggs and pickles at the Easter table. Hmmm.... if I do this, I'll have to go thrift store shopping for the forks and my place cards will not cost zero dollars and zero cents.
That is wonderfully creative!! It can be such fun to shop our own houses. I can find so much in our garage to use that I never would have thought of. Thank heavens for creative bloggers like you to inspire even more!!! :)
Absolutely adorable. Brilliant idea.

I love this!! I can't wait till my dining room is expanded (currently my table is in the kitchen and pushed against a wall) and I can implement this idea!

all your diy projects make cents to me..thanks!
So cute, great job of "shopping" the ole house!
Those are CUTE! Love the fork.
Love it!
Gorgeous, but I have a question. How do you keep your children from destroying all of it? My four kids would be tossing plates like Frisbees as soon as I walked out of the room.
How clever! This could be done so many different ways too. Sprinkle some of those jelly beans around in the grass to tie it in with your centerpiece...use colored plastic forks...use mugs, teacups or any other dish instead of a pot..instead of a placecard maybe use as a gift with a thoughtful saying or scripture on the fork...use different colors of Easter grass instead of moss..oh dear..my mind is going on overdrive! Thanks for sharing!
You have the best ideas!
so so cute.
