DIYP #6- Marble Magnets

I was given some adorable marble magnets a few months ago and I love them.

Since my 8 year old was doing the 'let's do a craft together' speech, and the toddler was taking a nap the other day, I thought these would be a fun project.

It was so easy, my little girl did most of the work.

We dug through my assortment of scrapbooking paper (all 7 sheets of it) and she decided on a beach theme.

Here's what you need:
scrapbooking paper, flat, transparent marbles, glue (I used Elmer's), small magnets

1. She cut out a few of the objects on the paper- a flip flop, sand dollars, a sea crab and some coconuts.  We just traced a marble over the paper.
2.  Then she cut out the circles.

3. She put a spot of glue on a marble and stuck it to the paper.

4. We let it dry and then attached a magnet.  We used the super tiny magnets, but you can use whatever you have or can find.

It only took about 10 minutes to make these and they turned out really cute.  Six of them fit an Altoids tin and would make a really cute gift.

We stepped it up a notch and printed our names on a piece of red toile scrapbook paper.

Here's what is on my 'fridge:

She enjoyed herself so much that she has declared this her new business.  You can place an order any time and she's priced the magnets at $10.99, a piece. She's saving for a RipStick and what with gas prices, she's got a lot of overhead!

Great project again. I think I'll try this with my daughter.

And your daughter's business plan seems sound. Best of luck :)

I have to go help set up a lemonade stand that's going to make us all a fortune. (According to my eight-year-old daughter.)

What a neat idea! We have a great craft store nearby and I'll have to look for those materials there. I love to do crafts with my girls.

And I think it is absolutely hilarious that she's starting such a profitable business!!

So, I'm so inspired by this (easy) crafty project that I'm emailing your post to my mommy playgroup friends right now! This would be an awesome activity for the kids, ahem, moms. Thanks!

So funny that you post about this! I just made a bunch of these yesterday! So cute. I used each magnet to spell out "Family", "Friends" and "Dream". Such a fun, and quick, little project!

What a fun idea! Wouldn't the grandparents love magnets made by little hands?

I have some of those! I love them. I received them as a gift for ordering the girls shirts from an Etsy shop that I frequent. Then I found some in the dollar bin at Walmart, and so I grabbed them as well.

10.99 each, eh? Is that American or Canadian dollars? lol

My daughter at 6 yrs old decided to sell lemonade. at $1,000,000 a pop. That way she could buy the puppy she's always wanted. :)

I am totally doing this with my kiddos. It sounds like so much fun and easy too. I agree they would make great little gifts. It may be a good project for me to do with my students at school. Thanks for the idea!! Good luck to your little entrepenuer too!

Oh, I love those, always wanted to make them but wasn't sure what kind of glue to use. Didn't know you could use Elmer's.

I made this for my son's first birthday as favors for the guests. I cut out little pictures of his face and glued them to the back of the marbles. They were a hit!

Yes! This has always been a favorite around here. We make seasonal themed ones, and ones for teacher gifts, mail man gifts, heck gifts for anyone!

Even good for teenagers and their lockers.....why not make a set of letters to spell things out too! Warning- use the bigger marbles to avoid the whole joking scene. Ya' know...cuz you don't wanna be THAT family do ya? :) Happy crafting!

Those are so cute! We have received some before in a decorated altoids tin...adorable! You can also buy larger size marbles at the craft store, if you wanna make some a little larger. I think my daughter is going make some Christmas ones this year.

My sister made me some of those from photos. I guess she reduced the size of some favorite photos and put them on the magnets. I love them!

This is so funny, I had not gotten to read this post yet, but guess what we did last night. Yep we made the beginnings of these things. I still have to get the magnets. I think we made about 50 of them. Once Logan and Syd got started you couldn't stop them. Syd made softball ones, baseball ones, a ladybug, and a bee. :)
