A True Story

Once upon a time, I went to Africa. I took my nearly new Flip Video Camera that I bought with birthday gift cards, coupons and money I found in the washing machine.

It broke- my first day there.

I had to borrow video footage from everyone else.

When I got home, I didn't act entirely Christian on the phone with the Flip Customer Service Dept. It got me no where. Plus, I had GUILT.

So. I went to Twitter. Because if anyone can help, it's Twitter friends. I whined and complained and offered to trade a nearly new broken Flip to someone who collected things that don't, um, work.

A sweet friend (YOU BETTER CLICK THAT LINK) offered to send me her nearly new extra video camera for a bit of advertising. And it's pink, to boot (girl power!)

She is a dear. Her blog is hilarious. We even hugged once.

Be her friend, subscribe to her blog. Follow her on Twitter.

So my video camera won't break-I think it's called Karma.

Thanks, Marcy. I got the camera today and will be using it immediately to capture my toddler flushing stuff down the commode---What??!! I better go stop her.

I started following you when you went to Africa and was touched by your words.

You have such a compassionate soul and you are real too!

I had to comment b/c my little guy put a whole roll of toilet paper in the toilet yesterday. Good times!

What a generous person Marcy is. You two might have something with this blog barter business! Glad you found Marcy and introduced her to us and the adage "What goes around comes around" is true and just went full circle.!

If anyone deserves some good to come their way it is you! What a nice friend! I am in the market for a video camera myself - might have to check out the flip!

I would try taking it back to the store where you bought it with your receipt and the box (if you still have it). Most stores have an exchange policy if it breaks within 90 days. I worked in customer service at a big box store for 6 years and in most cases if you kept the box and receipt they'll take most anything back. Sometimes if you've purchased it with a credit card online your credit company may help you retrieve your losses.

Wow, that's amazing! The power of Twitter. My husband has been a Twitter evangelist for three years. I finally gave in and am really enjoying the interaction. I'm still a Facebook mom at heart, but there's room in my heart for two!

Nice one, Marcy!

Kristen...this is two comments combined in one. Thanks for sharing in the other post about shaving off the fluff and extra stuff. Convicting.

Thanks for linking to Marcy. Her post on the dentist visit made me laugh out loud. I work for a pediatrician and I printed it out to share. We need a laugh today.
I added her blog to my daily "list" but don't worry, you will always be my favorite ;-)

Note to self: do not buy a Flip.

Did you mention to customer service that you have a blog that LOTS of people read and none of us will probably buy a Flip now? LOL That's just not cool that it broke on the first day.

No matter where you bought it from customer service should have been a little more helpful than that!

Alexia-
I LOVED my Flip--until it suddenly broke. The customer service was pretty bad and just really unhelpful. So-my review is mixed :|
