WFMW: My Only Beauty Tip

Please mark your calendars for the March 3 & 10 temporary move of WFMW. While I'm in Kenya with the Compassion Bloggers, Shannon of Rocks in My Dryer will be welcoming you all back to her place as she hosts WFMW for two weeks! There will NOT be a special theme for March 3, link any tip you'd like!

I'm not an authority on beauty or fashion. I shop at Target for both.

(I still use Covergirl makeup and Seabreeze cleanser) See? I told you.

But I did recently discover something that has taken my 25 minute morning routine down to 19 1/2 minutes.

I used to blow dry my naturally wavy hair dry and then hot iron the soup out of it. I knew all that heat wasn't great for my hair, but I was trying to achieve a certain look.

The gal who cuts my hair, styled it the other day and didn't use the hot iron. Instead, she used one of these:

It probably has a name, but I like to call it THE FATTEST, ROUNDEST HAIR BRUSH KNOWN TO MANKIND.

Now, I blow dry with this big daddy (use brush to roll hair out straight while drying) and skip the hot iron step entirely!

My hair is a bit puffier than it used to be. But y'all: I'm saving 6 minutes and my hair follicles!

Don't forget, the THEMED Works for Me Wednesday planned for next week, Feb. 3: share a blogging tip! (this is a suggestion, you're always free to link up any tips)

Thank you for joining me for WFMW! {You can read the guidelines here.}

Have a Works-For-Me Wednesday tip you'd like to share? I'd love for you to join us! Please note that the links will close on Thursday, in order to keep away the spammers!

Those brushes are great. When I had short hair, I used them, too. Now my hair is too long for my uncoordinated hands to handle. I am not a master hairstyler and my beauty routine sounds strikingly similar to yours. :-)

It is funny that you are working every morning to make your hair straight and I work every day to make mine just a little less straight! I'll send some straightness your way if you could send just a bit of body to my super-straight hair!

Wow people get their links up fast!!! When I was really little I got a round brush stuck in my long hair, and now I have been scared of them since. Maybe I should try them again.

I couldn't live without my big fat round brush!!! The handle broke off of mine and I hand to wrangle with it for about a week before I could get it replaced. That is definitely one beauty tool I could not live without.

Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting said...

Those brushes are the bestest things EVER! Unless your child gets a hold of it and tries to "brush" your hair with it. And by brush, I mean, rake your scalp. And then gets it stuck.

*cough*

But I wouldn't know anything about that or anything about scissors or hair-pulling and screams or anything like that....

Is it bad that I'm a guy and I love WFMW? It makes me feel so smart and then I impress my wife with all the stuff I learn.

Can't wait to see you at Blissdom!

I have been using a round brush for awhile now. It's called a Marilyn brush. It's what the salon used, so I bought one and have been really happy with it.

Alison @ Hospitality Haven said...

I added my link twice by accident. Oops! The first one only links to my home page (I didn't mean to do this!), but the second one is a proper link to the post...sorry 'bout that!

Thanx for the tip on the brush! Right now I am using a paddle brush that has both bristles and comby things. Add in a Brazilian Karatin Treatment and it still takes about 40 min. from wash to styled :o( It is what it is though.

Just a tip for the girls with longer hair. Be CAREFUL when using these brushes. I had to drive to the stylist with a giant hat on which covered not only my hair but the giant brush. I caught the brush so badly in my hair that my stylist had to cut it out, totally ruining my two foot long hair for about two years. They are GREAT little gadgets for shorter hair though!

I would love to know how to use one of those brushes! I have a blow dryer and a round brush and don't know how to use either of them to my advantage.

Those brushes are fabulous. Mine is a bit smaller, but heaven help me if I misplace it.

Bursahes like that are dangerous in my home. My 2.5 and 4 year olds simply get our curly hair all tangles up in them! But, with Auntie having a hair shop, we have been able to find ones that work for us.

On another note, I want to thank you for hosting this. I just found it and am going to have a lot of fun browsing as time allows. Plus, I just did my first post at wonderandwill.com

Haev a blessed day!

So I am totally with you on that brush being fantastic, but I am too uncoordinated to brush and dry at the same time. Special talent. Anyway, I found an all in one brush/dryer at Walmart and it does the job of both.

Lisa said...

WFMW piggy back. I do the round brush instead of flat iron to save time too. Mine's the Marilyn brush from Beauty First (about $15 but worth it). It helps keep it straight at the ends and the bristles are softer.

Anyway, here's the piggy back - if your hair is too poofy after drying try taking a shower and styling at night. Sleeping on your hair will flatten it out just the right amount and you can brush and go in the AM.

Anyway, I love your tip. Even if it's your only beauty tip, it's a darn good one!

I also love your blog name and headers.

I love huge round brushes!! I need a bigger one. LOL

Unknown said...

I have a big round brush, but I am so awful at trying to use it with the dryer - I usually give up! My hair is straight though anyway and only needs a little smoothing after drying. But I could use the volume that the brush gives!

we have those sort of brushes here the teens make good use of them

Alison said...

I do that too! Well, when I want the waves to go away. A stylist used one on my hair years ago and I bought one right then and there and have used it ever since! Love it!

I use a brush like that, too! This is my first time posting. I didn't put my blog name up (My Life and Homeschooling)only bathroom towels.
