Baby, It's Cold Outside

It's only snowed 30 something times in the history of our southern part of Texas and it's never snowed two years in a row.

Until this week.

We broke out sweaters and scarves for everyone.

We roasted sticky marshmallows in our backyard fire pit.

We enjoyed history being made.

My daughter wanted to savor the snow. She gathered some of the dirty snow into a ball and put it in the freezer. The next day when I went to fill my glass with ice, guess what plopped into my cup?

I wasn't that thirsty anyway.

Oh man it was so awesome to have snow two years in a row! For us southerners (especially Houstonians), snow is a really big deal. Schools and jobs shut down and everyone goes home to enjoy it. Plus yesterday was my birthday, so I got to play in the snow on my birthday! Thanks Jesus for the best birthday gift ever!

I hate to tell you this, but we Idahoans laugh when we hear stories about school/work being shut down over a little bit of snow. In order for school to be shut down here, it has to be below -20 degrees. It hasn't been closed in our district for at least the last two years.

But please, don't think that I'm insulting you or making fun of you or anything! I suppose it's just like a millionaire being a little surprized when a poor boy finds a quarter on the street and is incredibly happy about it. It's good to be reminded that something we often feel put out by is actually really cool!

We only got 3 flakes in San Antonio, but it has been crazy cold for this time of the year, this far south!

It is funny when I read that you are all freezing and it is snowing, when I am boiling here in Australia, today I was in the pool cooling down. hehehe. We are on other sides of the world I suppose. Looks like great fun. :)

No snow here in my part of GA (woo hoo!) even though it was sure cold enough for it!

Just had to comment on the dog sweater. My puppy Cocoa has the same one...that's why I call her my little cupcake! LOL

Mmmm roasting marshmallows - I'd love to do that right about now!

I'm glad that the snow is down there with you and not in MI yet - I am definitely NOT look forward to it. Although the boys saw the light dusting (which looked more like frost than snow)we had the day after Thanksgiving and about peed their diapers with all the excitement of "snow"

That reminds me of how dogs are dressed for the cold here in Russia--funny!

So cool! This morning we woke up to snow in Indiana. It's melted away now. But our ride to school was slippery slidey!
Soon....we'll be blanketed for the winter.

So glad you guys had a taste of the fun stuff! I love it!
