I love magazines that show me how to do make stuff (Country Living and Southern Living) or give me info on things I care about (Parents).
I typically toss one in my grocery cart, but I rarely subscribe. It's not something I budget and let's face it, I don't feel the $3 for one like the $25 for twelve. (Math is not my thing, obviously).
But in the past month, I've bought FIVE magazine subscriptions. Count them: Real Simple, Southern Living, Parents, Country Living and Family Fun! ALL for $5 each-for an entire year!
Amazon has daily deals (it the little yellow treasure box in the toolbar). I am emailed a link each morning and I skim through this almost every day and that's where I've stumbled upon the $5 subscriptions-all at an 80% discount! There is usually one magazine deal every week or so.
And that, my friends, works for me.
Please Note: There will NOT be WFMW the day before Thanksgiving. I might schedule some posts ahead of time, but I've decided to step away from the computer for a couple of days during this time.
Have a Works-For-Me Wednesday tip you'd like to share? I'd love for you to join us! Please note that the links will close at 9 pm CST tonight, in order to keep away the spammers!

This is a great tip!!!
That sounds great! I hardly ever think about Amazon, I need to.
Thanks for hosting!
~Liz
I've also found some great prices on ebay. (BRAND NEW subscriptions i.e. Rachael Ray and Family Fun for $2.50 for a year. This includes postage.)
That was a sweet deal - esp. for birthday gifts - they will mail them for you!
Blessings,
lana @ www.ilovemy5kids.blogspot.com
Wow, that is really cheap. I buy a lot of Amazon, but never thought about magazine subscriptions. Sounds like it would be a perfect gift idea too!
Toni
I love magazines. Sigh. Now I just need a tip on how to find the time to read them.
But they do look pretty on my coffee table. And nightstand. And floor...
you know, I do the same thing - I think nothing of throwing one in my cart - but I rarely subscribe! Thanks for the tip!
.......and you deserved next week off!! ENJOY!
Happy Thanksgiving Kristen!
~TidyMom
I think paper magazines are so desperate for our attention... there have to be all sorts of wonderful deals. Well done for spotting them!!! Have a lovely holiday week off and thank-youso much for all that you do for us!!!
I remember that you tweeted about the Real Simple one and I snagged it. Thank you!
I can't find it on Amazon. The price I see is more. I clicked on the Treasure Chest but it doesn's show Real Simple. I hope you can help me.

Wow! That is SO cool! Great deals on GREAT magazines!!! That would work for me, too.
I use frequent flier miles to get magazines for free. We don't travel but once a year and they expire if you don't travel much, so at least they get used for something.
I love to have magazine subscriptions... but don't have any for $5! That is fantastic!! :)
I had heard about a subscription to Country Living on Amazon for $5 and signed up. There was such an overwhelming response to that offer that I didn't get a magazine for 4 months! Oh well...the first one came just in time for preparations for Thanksgiving :)
Last I knew, if you buy a Parents brand toy (available at Target), you can get a year of the magazine for free or a $5 rebate. The toys are geared towards the under 3 crowd, but there are a few that older kiddos would enjoy. They all are good quality.
I love reading magazines too but have found the public library a fantastic source and a great deal!
What a great tip, thank you! I love Southern Living and never renewed my subscription when I moved. I will have to check out Amazon.
Thanks for hosting!
Love that you do this. Will have to check more often.
5 dollars? That's less than the lunch I just bought! Great Christmas gift idea! Thanks!
I love magazines too! I have subscribed to 4 of the 5 you have through amazon as well and just got coutnry living for myself and two others for gifts. What a great deal! :)
Oh, I wish Amazon in Canada had magazines!
Wow, 215 links so far! That's awesome, talk about a lot of good tips!
Oh, by the way, I'm going to post tomorrow about being one of your winners of the Poloppo-kids-art-t-shirts-giveaway. Thanks again!
Late to the party this week. As always, thanks for hosting! :~D
LOL...I scheduled a WFMW post but never linked. Ooops!
I love Amazon for discount magazine subscriptions.
