The Portrait of a Family

I usually duck when someone points a camera in my direction.

I'm not camera shy, really, I just don't love being the object on the other end of a lens.

It probably sounds weird that I've dreamed of a professional photo shoot of my family.  A brave soul to follow us around while we wear white and dodge grass stains. (We've had family pictures taken at WalMart loads of times and it's fine, but, well, you know).

So, there it is: my dream.

And, thanks to Sherrard Photography, she captured much more than grass stains:

The sweet gal behind the lens took around 500 pictures of our family in around an hour. She was so fun and creative and put this uneasy girl at ease.

Her work is amazing. Christa is flexible and easy-going and cute as a button.

She is a premier wedding photographer and will travel just about anywhere to capture your special day. She sticks to areas around Houston, Texas, for everything else.

And if you visit her site, you'll fall in love with her gorgeous images.

If you tell her I sent you, she'll offer 10% off her reasonable family sitting fees.

Great pictures. It's funny we had to do the same thing....dressed in white, frolicking about the weeds, holding balloons as the burst into pieces from the wind...babies screaming.... They turned out almost as good as yours did!

I LOVE the picture with the frame! I am so jealous of your professional photo shoot. When it gets a little cooler here in the desert, I want to do one of my own.

They are such great pictures. When my son was young we had some great pictures taken of him. All in white etc. His picture was then put in a charity coffee table book. It is a great thing to look back on, just like the pictures are.
I love the one of you all jumping up with your signs, what a great idea.
Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful pictures! When you find a good photographer, it's best to keep them! My favourite has been taking our pictures since Monkey #1 was born, except it seems like she's always out of the "office" for some reason or another when it's Monkey #2's turn for pictures. And I have fewer good pictures of my poor daughter than of anyone else!

Beautiful pictures! I'm so glad you found a photographer you like. Too bad we're not near Houston.

I am amazed!

We just had similar outside pictures taken of our family last weekend. Our photographer was great, the wind, and our kids were not. My kids were so freaking hyper and they usually aren't. I think since we were in a park they thought they could run and scream even though the photographer was trying to get a good shot. There really isn't a fabulous shot of the 5 of us but I am really picky. There is one of us walking holding hands that I like expect hubby thinks he looks fat. We did get some great shots of the three kids together, the girls indvidually, and hubby and I together. Not too bad for $75 so I shouldn't complain.

Your pictures turned out great!

Great pictures! I, too, have been wanting to get a good family picture done but just keep putting it off. Hopefully we'll get to in in the next month or so, after our youngest starts walking again. Thanks for the recommendation. Since I am in the Houston area, I'll have to look her up!

Amazing shots!
We had family shots done professionally a few years ago (even included the ex) and I'm so glad. Gonna do it again when the youngest graduates. Priceless!

i LOVE this blog. I think it is so wonderful that your family is so close! Your pictures are great. My family just had a photo shoot also...(not as fun as yours)...and our photography suggested we get a life size picture made at Phogos.com Phogos is a company that takes your digital images and turns them into life size wall decals! Ours turned out so neat!

First of all - you are really cute! And the family! These are fabulous pictures! I wish your photog lived closer to Chicago. And where does your 2 year old get that blonde hair?! It is SO CUTE! I have an almost 2 year old with the same color hair and neither hubby nor I have light hair (or brother). I love it and wonder if it will stick. Probably not so we should take lots of pics. Thanks for sharing these great pictures of your precious family.
