T-Mobile Mom to Mom Quiz

My greatest job is being a Mom.

It's also the one in which I've had no professional training. Unless you count child birth breathing lessons.

I don't, because seriously, my kids ignore my panting through clenched teeth when I find them decorating their bodies with 107 band-aids from the first aid kit.

Or like last weekend when I convinced myself to don a swimsuit in public and take the family for our first swim of the season. It was a blast. Until it was time leave.

I can still hear the shrill screams of my toddler who wasn't ready to leave.  I'm not ashamed to admit I walked very slowly behind my hubby pretending I didn't know who they were, as he whisked her away to our car.

I saw other people actually pointing at my daughter's wailing form. It really took the attention off my body stuffed into last year's swimsuit.

Once we were in the privacy of our car, I looked at my hubby and said, "We need a parenting class."

He waited for the punch line, but there wasn't one.

Parenting is hard. It's also the most rewarding thing I've ever done.

But I'm always looking for ways to become a better Mom.

And that's why I took the T-Mobile Mom to Mom quiz, that helps moms identify their parenting style.

I'm not really surprised that ended up with a STRICT label. I like order, obedience and I'm a rule follower, usually. But I'm also learning that when I ease up and relax, my best parenting moments happen.

What kind of parent are you?

Take the quick test and come back and tell me! The questions are fun and easy to answer.

*T-Mobile empowered me to take the quiz and they asked me to share it with you!

I'm a Quick Wit! Says I need a sense of humor when raising teens! Isn't that the truth!
Thanks for sharing!

LOL It says I'm a Quick Wit, too! But I don't believe it.
I respond with wit and banter that lets them know I love them? More like
"You march yourself straight in there young lady!"
Like today, when they asked if they could play outside (while I cleaned the spilled paint out of the trunk) and then ten minutes later I found them CAKED IN MUD.

I don't recall any witter banter.

Well, as SGT STRICT I guess I'm in good company!

Well I'm Sgt. Strict too. I was actually happy that I was. I was a bit worried it could be worse. I'm sure my teenager would say so.

I was Sgt Strict too. Can't say I loved the other options. Based on some of the choices, there should have been some "and they let you have children" types.

I'm Sgt. Strict as well. I'm not really surprised by the results, and neither were my kids! I think I need to come a little closer to the quick wit side and use a little more humor, all though I guess that is what my husband is good at.

Not surprisingly, I was Sgt. Strict, too. My girls would NOT be surprised. :)

I thought this looked like a very fun quiz. I already know my hubby would tell me that I am a [pushover] but I am gonna take the quiz.

ps. I may be all the wiser now... but kids are pretty clever at manipulation.

I fell in "terrific teach" but it is hardly fair, as i'm not a mama. I don't think you really know how you will respond until you are in that situation.

Your comment on not having "training" to be a parent struck me as a little funny. You see, for the folks considering adoption, you have to have all kinds of training & the ability to "prove" you will be a good parent. Which is kind of ironic considering the folks who can have children naturally (15 year olds, drug users, etc.) & never have to "prove" in advance that they are "fit."

I'm not knocking you! I know you are a wonderful caring parent. And, i really wouldn't have it any other way, for anything else would be "big brother" & more gov't involvement. It just is again, ironic, for folks who so desperately want a family.

God's blessings on your day! :)

Sgt. Strict...and I'm not suprised, as I'm writing within the 5 minutes I gave my kids to pick up the living room. It was fun to think about picking my kids up at the movies with goofy music playing...honking and waving to their friends though.

Those days are a ways off for me. Thankfully!!!

Yep, I'm Sgt. Strict, too! :) Not a big shocker, but couldn't it sound more fun?!?!

I was Sgt Strict! A little shocked, but maybe I will ease up by the time my preschoolers reach their teens:)

Me too...Sgt.Strict over here.

But only because there wasn't a General Strict.

I'll be posting my results on Wed. I think I may include a few of our "strict rules" for fun too. Not sure if the grandparents will like us much after reading it tho.

I was a quick wit, but as I'm the momma of a 3 and 1 year old, I think it'll be a while before I'm dealing with texting and cell phone minutes with my teenage girls. By then we may be somehow telepathically communicating; forget cell phones! :)

I'm also Sgt. Strict...very true results!

I'm a split between Sgt. Strict and a Quick Wit... right down the middle. Hopefully that work out for me in the long run!

I'm a Sgt. Strict, as well. Not surprising, it's how I like things. ;o)

I was a Sgt. Strict...not that big of a surprise. Hope I can keep it up when my daughter is a teenager!

I got "Quit Wit" which is probably about right. I don't have teenagers yet, but my 8 year old thinks he's one. I'm sure I will be Sgt. Strict as we hit the teen years. . . not looking forward to that! :-P

Looks like I'm joining the SGT. Strict ranks, too! I really didn't think I was that strict...I try to do a lot with a sense of humor (or so I thought)! Hmmmm...I guess I need to let some things go that really aren't that important!

Becky said...

Another Sgt. Strict here too, although in most scenarios I would have chosen options that weren't on the list.

I'm Sgt. Strict! :( I totally thought I was a Quick Wit. Guess I'll leave the humor to my hubby!

I am Sgt Strict. I am a grandmother so not sure that makes a difference. My grandkids don't understand I am treating them like I did their parents.

Bailey's Leaf said...

The first three questions were as far as I got. Really, it didn't give the answers that I would have. I know that I'm a strict mom, but as much as I think that college isn't an option, I don't know what the best option for my now five year old is. Dating long distance? A pen and piece of paper are handy and so is sending e-mail. Buying a car? Research it both together and split the tab with the understanding that there is no free reign to using the car. It's a privilege and must be treated as such.

Actually, I kind of thought the survey was somewhat the pits.

Bailey's Leaf said...

Okay, I meant that college wasn't optional, but again, I'm not certain of what the best choice for my child is when it comes to that time. Sometimes college isn't the best fit for everyone.

I'm apparently a Quick Wit, which makes me happy, although it's somewhat theoretical - my child being only 8 months old currently :)

I blogged about my results too. Thanks for sharing the quiz!

Quick Wit for me! I need to laugh to deal with my teen daughters so I guess I hit it on the nail :}

I'm a Sgt. Strict too, maybe that's why I love your blog!

My result was... Best Buds!! Oh my, I thought I was going to be the Strict Mom. Maybe I'm focusing on too much love and not enough logic. lol

Sgt. Strick here, but I think it's because they were the answer for what I thought I SHOULD do.

Can I join you in the Sgt Strict corner? Thanks.

Jaden Paige said...

I also got "Best Buds", but that doesn't surprise me, since I'm very close with my Mom and my parenting style is a lot like hers :)

Unknown said...

I'm a Quick Wit, too. And all this time I've been calling myself a smart mouth!

elizabeth said...

Someday I would like to be known as *bud* to my children when they are adults, but not as my kidlets. Nope! I think there SHOULD be some training for marriage and raising children - seriously, not gov't - but school, home -- better than I got, thats for sure (and boy, is this a run on sentence!)

I am SGT Strict - some of the questions were just dumb, as we won;t be using cell phones 'til the kids are in their very late teens.

Amanda said...

I am Sgt. Strict as well! I think I already knew that one though~

Beth said...

Sgt. Strict here too, but my kids could have told you that one.

Sam said...

I didn't take the quiz, but I'm sure I'd be Sgt Strict too. What you said about when you ease up and relax a bit really struck me. You are so right. I need to remember that more often. Thanks for the reminder!

Quick Wit here! Good thing since I spend most of my life with teens!

I'm in the same boat as you, Sgt Strict. My motto is I won't be visiting my children in jail..LOL

another sgt. strict here too!

Srt. Strict is my name too, but I have no actual expereince dealing with texting/ dating/ scenarios. My kids are little; is there any other way to be?
