Our kids helped us spread 3 yards of mulch this past weekend.
They shoveled:
They raked:
They stylishly wore tiny dirt mustaches and goatees (Is it just me or does she look just like Juan Valdez?)
They passed out from exhaustion and were revived with slobbery kisses:
And they were paid in the kind of money kids dream about: slip n slide cash
(Thanks Aunt Kate for sending my son's birthday present early!)
When it was time to turn off the slip in slide hose, I told my kids I had a nice hot bath running for them.
My 2 year old pointed to the wet plastic and said, "I take bath, right there."
She had a point.
I love dirty children.

Y'all have a happy weekend.

Hey, if all you have to do to get them to do yard work is bust out the slip 'n slide, maybe they'll weed for you too!
Isn't child labor one of the top reasons we have kids to begin with???
Love the photos... and the two year old definitely DOES have a point! haha! Smart girl!
Great photos. Cute, cute!
My kids would work for slip and slide too. Too bad we don't have a slip and slide though...
Really, we do reward our children for their labor. It gives them a true sense of self-esteem to complete a job well... and it blesses them to know they are a blessing.
How fun! Just look at those dirty little feet. They obviously loved that slip-n-slide too.

Oh What fun! I loved the slip and slide as a child...:)
Wish my kids would work for a slip and slide. But 14 and 17 year old girls really don't care about that any more!! hahaha
There is nothing better than the smell of kids who have been outside all day and are as dirty as they can possibly be!
It is a family contribution...
not child labor.
Nothing wrong with teaching your kids a strong work ethic.

We could tell something GOOD was going on next door! ;)
Loved your nagging article, also! I, too, have the gift of remembering.
Loooooooooooove it!
You have the best captions!
My did a bunch of the same stuff this last week but they also threw mud pies on my garage! Real cool.
It's not just you, she does look like Juan Valdez. :)
Sounds like a perfect day.
Nothing sings sweet reward for all that hard labor than a slip and slide!
You rock!
Happy Mother's Day

Well worth the work. A great combination in just the right order.
Cheers
The hours and hours of yard work I did growing up (picking thousands of rocks out of the 2 acrea pasture we were converting to a lawn, hauling and stacking firewood, raking under the 6 oaks trees around the house, weeding, painting fences, etc.) built character in my life and taught me the value of hard work. I think it's awesome that your kids are learning young to work. And the slip'n'slide? Seriously, what an awesome reward!!!
Two of my kids favorite things are dirt and water which equals mud....
Now the work is another story!
HOW CUTE IS THAT???!!! :D
Happy, Happy Mothers day weekend to you!!!
Big Hugs

If there's anything a kids will do its walk through the water with shoes on and stomp and they will get muddy any chance they get.
Looks like fun! We always make our kids help with yard work!
Such a funny family, so glad to see the "normal" is still going strong in your family. Because funny IS your normal! Happy Mothers Day to you. And many many more
My husband keeps asking how old they have to get before they can do dishes. ;o)
