WFMW's New Home

Okay, I just need to scream:

{Squeeeealllll!!!}

All better now.

I am delighted and thrilled to be the new host of Works for Me Wednesday, formerly of Rocks in My Dryer.

Shannon asked me if I'd be interested in taking her carnival over and I gave it some deep thought.

You know for about 0 seconds.

I love the carnival. I love the helpful tips. I love the community.

I love that I have the best sock organizational system in the world because of Works for Me Wednesday (Shannon's tip).

And now for my tip: creating WFMW ideas & a secret

I think our homes are full of helpful tips, but after participating for a year, sometimes my idea bank runs low (a lot like another bank I have....) But sharing what you do to make your life easier can be so helpful: like keeping a squeegee in the shower to wipe down the glass doors after every shower or using Clorox wipes to clean the bathroom sinks every morning so it doesn't get out of hand or writing down items on your to do list even after you've completed them.

See? There are so many things we do that can help others.

(Okay, except for that last one. I'm pretty sure I need medication for that one).

It seems I'll be needing some handy tips to share with you in the months and years (!) to come. I keep a small notepad in my purse and I jot down blogging ideas as they come to me. If I don't, I can't remember an hour later!

I get asked a lot how I link up in the top 5 or so (usually) at WFMW

And I'm going to tell you (can you feel the suspense?): I read the carnival guidelines and look for time clues, like 10 pm (CST) and I refresh. A. Lot.  I also insert my post link (permalink) into a random Mr. Linky on my blog or a used Mr. Linky. I delete it immediately after it's shown up.  When a new Mr. Linky is put up, it grabs your oldest link.  It saves me from having to type very quickly, which I don't do very well. I discovered this little tip by accident!

So, that's one of my deep dark secrets.

Stick around for more.

I hope you'll join me next week!

(No email attached to your comment, otherwise I'd have just replied, but...)

Pretty darn sure I remember that it was YOU who left a comment about wearing red at Target yourself, you know, just in case? Was it?

Because getting another comment from you today along the same lines had me in stitches.

Funny girl, you. You don't comment much (probably too busy keeping up your own stellar blog, from the looks of it) but when you do, you pack a punch and put a smile on my face.

Thanks!

Score for you! Do you feel like she just handed you a brick of gold? =) I'm looking forward to doing this with you!

Congrats to you, what an honor to be the "chosen one!" I'm sure you'll do the carnival proud.

But now, with you hosting, it'll go up at central time, right?

neener neener, i'm in Alaska, so that's still tuesday night for me!!!

Incidentally, I just copy and paste...no typing needed. :)

Very cool. My new nickname for you is going to be carnival girl! SFMTY, WWFMW,DIYS....

I will have to frequest when I think of something good to share. The 10ct is hard for me because that's 11 for me and I'm in bed by then....so if I wait until the next day to post I'd be like # 200 and then I feel like...who reads #200...I'm pitiful, this I know.

I'm so excited that you were chosen as the new hostess for WFMW! Woo-hoo! I was scared Shannon was going to shut it down for good.

Looking forward to visiting your site each week and playing along! :-)

Oh my goodness! This is great. I didn't know the Mr. Linky trick. So nice of you to share. I usually refresh and wait and then copy and paste my link in. It takes soooo frustratingly long - even though it's just seconds. Your way is faster, thanks again. :) Looking forward to seeing WFMW here.

Congrats on the takeover! You are just the most perfect choice! Thanks for the tips too, I don't have time to sit and hit refresh, but I did notice the quirk with Mr. Linky. I didn't think about using it improve speed in linking. Great idea!

Love your blog.

Congratulations, Kristen! How exciting to be the new Works for Me Wednesday host. Even after your sparkling tip, I will still probably be one of the last bloggers to link up (seeing as my Wednesdays are busy and I usually barely squeak in under the p.m. deadline). But I'll be back to play, better late than never :) Best of luck with your new hosting job.

I'm so excited for you!!!! Let me squeal a little too! And I'm so glad that WFMW is still going to be around. And I'm so glad for the tip on the Mr. Linky! I'm just glad and excited all around!

Yay, you! Can't wait to see wfmw here!

I'm new to your blog from Rocks in My Dryer. I love it! BTW...I also write things on my to do list after I've done them just so I have more to cross off. :)

Congratulations. Thanks for the tip on being one of the first links. I look forward to posting many times.

I am a newbie and I just subscribed to this blog. I have a question about WFMW. It seems that there is a topic given but then the links that follow don't always follow that topic. So if I were to look for something, say how to keep a bathmat from getting all yucky in the tub, how would I search that? do I have to go through each individual link?

Jane Anne said...

Woo hoo!!! I am seriously so thrilled that you picked this up. Thanks for the WFMW tips!

So very excited for you! I wish we could have had time to hang out more at Blissdom so I could feel like, "I know her AND I'm super excited", but we did meet in passing! So very thrilled for you!!

Great tip, BTW. I do almost the same thing, but was most definitely thrown tonight by the early linky. :)

I am so happy that WFMW is continuing! I just found it a few weeks ago, and I am looking forward to posting every week.
Thanks for being the new hostess.
I also write things down I have done on my "to do" list, just to have the pleasure of crossing them out! But recently I have started using igoogle, and typing my to do list on there.....when you complete something, you just "x" it and is disappears! You just don't get that same satisfaction as crossing it out! :)

I am so pleased to know that this fun event will continue. I am fairly new at it but I have followed Rocks in my Dryer for a long time. I trust it will be a great blessing for you and for all who participate. I look forward to getting to know you through this weekly event. Blessings.

All great tips! I also write things on my to-do list after I have done them!

To make mine faster I go ahead and copy my link and paste it in. My computer remembers what I type so all I have to type is T and it pics up Tasha@Hectic Calm for me.

I'm glad you're doing this! And I totally write things on my to-do list after I've done them, just so I can cross them off! :)

Kristen said...

Just to clarify my tip:

Go ahead and publish your link (just like you would) only do it in a 'used' Mr Linky.

Since Mr Linky 'picks' up the last link, when a new Mr. Linky goes active, it will pick up your new link.

Y'all email me with questions!

Sherry @ Lamp Unto My Feet said...

THanks for the tip! I'll have to try that. :D

I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for WFMWs!!
