THAT Family Tree Society-Issue 25

Picture of the Week:

The Week in Review:
I almost bought this swinging Ikea chair for Christmas for my son. I'm glad I waited until after the holidays. Because it was half priced. Finding a fun place for him to read is priceless. Here's to hoping it doesn't fall out of the ceiling.

Introduction into the Society: Please help me welcome Just Another Day in Paradise as the newest member of The Society.

1.  What is the name of your blog?

Just Another Day in Paradise. . .It's kind of a play on words.  God has totally blessed us beyond comprehension.  However, it's my husband's and my way of coping with the roller coaster we call life.  Read more about it here.

2. How long have you been blogging?

Hi.  My name is Rachel, and I am a blogging addict.  I have blogged since July about everything from which toilet to use (the far one!) to kid issues to stroke issues.  (I am a speech-language pathologist.)

3. How would you define THAT family?

Well, when you have to check out the hospital situation on vacation because you KNOW you'll need one, that's a good indication.  If you go to the fall festival and are the ONLY family causing a disturbance and the only family where someone gets hurt (at Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin), that is a pretty good indication.  If your child screams all the way through Wal-Mart and attempts to throw herself out of the cart--simply because you won't carry her. . .If you've ever had a child break their leg by wrapping themselves in a curtain. . .If you've ever had a child that was in the ER 3 times in 2 weeks. . .If you've ever had a child that cut his head and went back to sleep (allowing the blood to dry and seal his eye shut. . .)  If you've ever had to tell your overprotective mother (at least she used to be) that your child ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY WAS NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY WITH MATCHES AT HER HOUSE!  I would go on, but DHS is probably on their way now.  I have a lot to do before they get here.

4. When did you discover you were a member of THAT family?

[sigh] I guess I have always been in THAT family.  My dad used to ask (loudly, VERY LOUDLY) in public questions like, "Do you need to go to the bathroom before we leave?". . .and I was 17 at the time.  His idea of a good time was watching how many cars stopped or swerved to hit the dead snake he had placed in the road. . .My husband, on the other hand, married into THAT family.  I feel for him.  I really do, but between the yelling and the broken bones and the sicknesses, I really don't have time to acclimate him to what being in this family fully entails.

5.  Where can we find your blog?

Great interview...I think I've found another kindred spirit. My post right now, while has a precious conversation between my hubby and son, is also very much THAT family... shirtless and all!

Sounds like a friends' family. She has 3 boys; they're always going to the doc or ER for some reason.
