And This Is Where You Lose Respect For Me

Answers Part II

Way back when, you asked me some questions.  I answered the blogging questions first. Because I am an expert.

*SNORT*

Basically, those questions were just easier to answer than these.  It's not that I don't want to get personal with you, darling, I'm just afraid you will not be impressed lulled to sleep by my riveting life.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 10 years I will be 45.  Give me a moment because suddenly I'm feeling a crik (southern talk for ache) in my back. Thank you. In 10 years, we will be living on some land in an old home outside of Texas. I will be writing up a storm and my mantle will be lined with autographed copies of my first book.  Because I am that vain.  We will also be preparing for my first born's high school graduation. Excuse me while I go stunt her growth.
  2. Were you born in Texas? Born and raised and then my hubby and I lived in Arkansas, New Mexico and Florida.  We love Texas, but land is expensive here, so there might come a day . . .
  3. What does your back yard look like? I am so glad you didn't ask me this pre-stimulus check.  We just did a major overhaul.  Because sinkholes are not my friend and I didn't want to breed mosquitos for a living anymore.  You can read way more than you want to right here. And there are pictures, lots of pictures, oooh, you are so lucky! Aren't you glad you stayed?
  4. Does your car stay clean? I think this question is just mean. You can read about what can be found in my car on any given day here.  (This is probably the point you lose the rest of the respect you had for me).
  5. What’s the update on the squirrels? I don’t want to talk about it. Okay, if you insist.  They have taken over.  Please help us. I'm talking out of the side of my mouth so the squirrel that is holding a gun-shaped nut to my temple won't hear me.  Thanks for asking.
  6. What two colors would you paint your toes for the rest of your life? I'm not certified to paint my own toes.  And I like French Manicures.  So, those colors.
  7. What are some of your favorite books? For years, I devoured Historical Christian Fiction like Brock & Bodie Thoene's series and Lori Wick.  Lately, I've been into Jodi Piccoult. I loved The Plain Truth. I'm in a neighborhood book club that exposes me to things I wouldn't normally pick up. Right now, I'm reading The Shack.  I'm pretty sure it's going to change my life.
  8. What is the most annoying thing about being a mom? The laundry. Oh, and the waiting in car lines, doctor's offices, etc. I'm not a good waiter. And I can't leave out, looking for ticks in the privates.  Just keeping it real.
  9. What’s your favorite dinner? The one that's cooked FOR me.
  10. What’s your favorite ice cream? Blue Bell. Any flavor. It's the best ice cream in the country. Don't even argue with me about that.
  11. How does McDonald's sweet tea compare to Southern?  This question made me weep.  I have puffy eyes and a heavy heart.  It does not compare.  Be good to yourself and try this.
  12. What things do you say to your kids that your mom said to you? Ask your father. Because I said so.  Don't wipe your boogers on your clothes.
  13. What are two things you can’t live without?(besides family) Total carnal answer here: my macbook and my iphone.  I'm an Apple girl, through and through.
  14. What is the meaning of life? This link will take you to the best answer for this question. It's long, but powerful and I fully believe it.
  15. What is your ‘come to Jesus’ story? I love this question!  And since I don't want to mix it in with the above nonsense, I think I'll save it for it's own post!

Wee Ha! I'm an Apple girl myself! I'd like to think I could live w/o my iPhone, but I'm afraid I'd be fooling myself.

Don't be so hasty... no respect lost here!! :-)

I too am an Apple-holic! And Blue Bell IS the best ice cream you can buy in a store, smuggle home and enjoy in a shameless sugar rush ALL by yourself. Thanks so much for sharing all your fun info!

I am also a Mac girl and my hubby says he's saving his overtime checks to buy me a new one (since Henry spilled water on my laptop). I am very interested in hearing your Jesus story. I am currently in the middle of telling mine.

No way, I didn't lose respect for you. :)

I'm an apple girl too...or more like a wannabe since I don't own anything apple besides an iPod...yet...

I hope you enjoy The Shack. I know there is a lot of controversy surrounding it but I loved it. It is a work of fiction but I whole-heartedly agree with the overall message. About the squirrels, if the cayenne pepper didn't work there is a product called Deerscram that seems to keep squirrels away too. And I can't wait to read your "come to Jesus"story!

Love Jodi Piccoult! Also love learning more about you. You've got some great answers to your questions.

Laundry is totally the worst part of being a mom.

I sure an enjoying your blog! I love your sense of *ahem* humor! Really, thanks for keeping it real.

McDonald's sweet tea? They really sell that stuff? You gotta make it at home to be sweet tea!

And I must agree that Blue Bell is the best ice cream in the country from the little creamery in Brenham, Texas!

Joy said...

I don't know about the squirrels except your answer totally reminded me of that wacked out David Crowder music video!

Oh and for argument sake, BREYER'S makes the most flavorful ice cream and they do not jip you on the goodies (you know, the candy bar bits and pieces that my thighs do NOT need)!!!

I don't know that I've bad BlueBell before. I always get what is on sale and Breyer's is inexpensive.

I love Blue Bell. I enjoyed reading all your answers and I'm totally with you on the laundry.

I used to be able to get Blue Bell when I lived in AZ, but not in CA. Breyers is a huge favorite in our house, especially peach, love the natural ingredients.

I refuse to think of where I'll be in ten years. When I'm 46. Likely, I'll be freakin' out about how to pay for college.

I love that you keep things real here. My car is never clean either(I have kids! Hello!).

O.k., that orange color on the questions is bugging my eyes out! I had to read them several times, must need another cup of coffee. Great answers, is it too early to have ice cream yet?

I'm worried for you. Those squirrels only get nastier over time. If they've taken over already, I suspect you will be serving them cocktails out of cute little acorn shells in no time!!

My husband being from TX also is under the same assumption that Blue Bell is the best ice cream...
I love home made sweet tea too.
Oh girl the Shack is gonna change your life, I even got HD to read it, he normally sticks to things like Field and Stream and squirrel dog dot com. Maybe we need to bring our little dog and fix your problem them I can teach you how to make fried squirrel and gravy...

Happy Tuesday!

OK, so now I'm going to have to do some digging so I can find out about the squirrels!

Also, Blue Bell ice cream must be regional? Too bad, because I'm always on the look-out for good ice cream!

I have TOTAL respect for you, because you're honest. It's very refreshing!

Wow, here I ask a smarty-pants question about the meaning of life, and you answer it with an amazing link. An Orthodox link no less -- did you know I'm Greek Orthodox?

You've done something very special here. Thank you.

I can't go 10 in the future.. Scares me half to death!
Loss of respect? nah.. nothing there points to that!
Except I do hope that us, your faithful blog readers, get to read the first excerpt from your book!

I'm feeling distinctly Yankee at the moment. i've never heard of Blue Bell and the only sweet tea I've ever had, I bought at McDonald's. Before I get banned from visiting here ever again, I will say in my defense- I didn't really like it. :)

I loved reading your answers to the questions. Looking forward to hearing the answer to #15!

When we first moved to TX years ago, I kept wondering about the BIG DEAL everyone kept making about Blue Bell icecream. Then I bought it one time 'cause it was on sale. My hips (and stomach, and thighs...) can tell you whether or not it's good. (Oh, yes.)

I agree about Blue Bell. And they don't have it here, just it's sad cousin, Blue Bunny. I like Breyer's but it just doesn't have enough STUFF in it. We had Blue Bell in Florida. Why can't they have the good stuff everywhere? Why can't they put Blue Bell and In n' Out Burger in the same state???

Seriously, I am STILL chuckling about #5...little rascals :)

Your writing is never a disappointment, I always look forward to reading. Hope that book dream comes true!

Kristen,

You crack me up! And see, that's a good thing. There's enough negative in the world as it is. I love reading about things that matter -- ice cream, sweet tea, the meaning of life ... and I'm definitely waiting on your come to Jesus story!

Laundry and doctor waiting rooms are the worst part ever! Boo's doctor is always late, and if we didn't love her so much we would have left...5 years ago. But she is fabulous!

No respect lost here my dear! I loved it all!

I had Blue Bell ice cream while visiting in Texas. It is very good!

Doesn't EVERYBODY have Blue Bell ice cream??? That was a fun posting. I think I will make up questions and post them for all my friends to answer so we can get to know each other better!

I can tell you really enjoy your blogging, You and your family are fun to read about, but more importantly, you are a great example to show that Christians can be fun/real people! You are a pretty neat lady.

YAY! You answered my question! I've had real southern sweet tea while visiting down there, and I actually thought Micky D's wasn't bad. Gold Peak bottles some good stuff, too. But then, its been years, so what do my tastebuds know?

Check out my post where I attempted to build a deck box. By myself. With two kids.

So how come the Thoenes and Lori Wick don't seem to be writing as well or as much? What is up with that?

I'm with you on the Apple products. It's my Achilles Heel. I blame my husband. He started it, he has to finance it now.

I'm thinkin' that after finish the book you will have to post a review of The Shack. I haven't read it yet, but women I totally respect & admire are wild about it. I will have to check it out.
I didn't know that McDonalds had sweet Tea. Oh well, I still like my home brewed version with ton's of sugar!
My boys found shot guns to work best on squirrels. That is TX pest control all the way. Then you can get the recipe from the earlier commentor for baked squirrel or whatever she has. We aren't very green.

I went back and read the Sweet Tea post. And you are SO right! Many, many people make the mistake of adding the sugar to COLD tea. That makes so sense to me. But here, Witt's BBQ has the BEST EVER sweet iced tea. I go they several times a day just to get it. YUMMY!

Love the "meaning of life" link. At times I feel like I am too much a part of a Monty Python movie. This just puts things into THE real perspective.

Mandy said...

I just found your blog a few days ago from a friend of a friend of a neighbors friend....or whatever.
Anyway, I LOVE your "real-ness"!

The reason I decided to leave a comment is because of the McDonald's sweet tea question.
I live in Alabama and if you aren't fortunate enough to live in the South and have REAL sweet tea, don't go to McDonald's thinking you'll find REAL sweet tea there! No comparison!
So, I'm glad I found you. I've enjoyed your blog very much in the week that I've been reading, and you super glue/baby/lips story....I was so sorry for your little one, but the way you told the story cracked me up!

Heather said...

Blue Bell is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST store bought ice cream ANYWHERE! You MUST try Southern Blackberry Cobbler, if you haven't already! It's DELISH!
Sorry to all of you who don't have Blue Bell! I think you need to consider moving! ;) Yes, it's REALLY that GOOD, I mean GREAT!
Love your blog. Keep making it REAL!
