Sincerely 'Fro Me to You- The Cross*Dresser

Welcome to this week's Sincerely 'Fro Me to You Carnival. If you want to join in, you can read the guidelines here

We have one son.

He is the only son we will have.

He is sandwiched between two sisters.

He is easy-going. He is sensitive and thinks of others.

Can you offer a moment of silence for him?

Thank you.

My hubby has some normal expectations of his son:

  • Don't ever hit a girl

  • Your sisters are girls

  • Respect my wife

  • Your mom is my wife

  • Excel at sports. If this is not possible, be a rough and tumble boy and do not act like, well, your sisters.

I want to talk about that last one.

My boy is not athletic. It doesn't come naturally to him. Let me just put it this way: his one experience on a soccer team?

H-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s.

He was there to give flowers to the the girls on the other team. He was scoring all right. I'm not even kidding.

In fairness to my son, he was born into the home of a demanding two year old sister who was in the height of pink, princess and pretty dress up.

He didn't stand a chance.

I'll never forget when he wore this:

and this

And can you blame him? Those are some pretty volcanic ensembles. I mean, it takes fashion sense to put those shoes together with that outfit.

My hubby was not too thrilled with my son's interest.

Thankfully, he outgrew the phase and the outfits and moved on to Dora the Explorer.

He loved her. A lot. On his second birthday, she was on his cake and was near and dear to his heart.

She adorned his house shoes and his blankie.

He moved from Dora to the Disney Princess'.

Again, it was hard to blame him because they are hot. I'm just saying.

My hubby put his foot down when he asked for his own dress up box just like sisters. Santa delivered one stocked full of boy dress up clothes. Santa is nice, that way.

One question hung in the air, when will he be like Dad?
Aren't boys supposed to emulate their fathers? My hubby may be many things, but a cross dresser isn't one of them.

Just one more thing to be thankful for.

. . . To be continued tomorrow in celebration of my son's 6th birthday this weekend. . .

And, now it's your turn:

If his birthday is this weekend, there is a 50/50 chance its on my B-Day. Either way its a good weekend. :)

My eldest wasn't into sports and loved his Ken doll etc. He is 20 now, and has a nice office job and girlfriend. He had three older half brothers and a brother after him. However, since his sisters have come along he enjoyed their company.

That is so cute. My six year old definitely went through a pink phase. We'd go to the Disney store and he only wanted to look at princess stuff. So I got him a castle and princesses and later some Polly Pockets.

I simply love that he handed out flowers. That is so sweet. Far better than having scored a goal!

Too funny! He's so cute. My son went through a phase where he would scream "like a girl" which didn't make my husband too happy!

HILARIOUS!!!!!!! Having three boys, I don't even know where I would begin if I had a GIRL sandwiched in there!!! Your son is adorable :)

Oh no you di'nt.

Poor little dude. He's not ever going to live that down. Take it from me.....

We have pics of my brother standing in front of the TV in his boots. And that's it.

I take every opportunity that I can find to waggle the picture in his face.

Cause I'm fun like that.

Thanks for hosting. I had much fun with this!

I have some great pictures of Chase in a Tutu. The girls drag them out everytime a new friend comes to stay the night!
I made copies just in case he tries to destroy them!

Aww. He is adorable in his princess outfits. My son was really into Anastasia when the movie came out (what was that, 10 years ago?). All the men in his life were really upset that I gave him the doll, but were quickly reassured when they found that all he wanted to do was undress her.

Every time we get a new toy for our daughter, the boys play with it, it's ok. And my boys dress up from time to time, and they love the jewelry, I say oh look you are a king....

My girls love to dress up my 2yo boy in their princess stuff too. It drives my 11 yo son completely batty!

So, last night I was at my computer and at your site, ready to be person number 1 on your Mr Linky (SO EXCITING)as I was typing in my link, our power went out!! :-( It wasn't until the middle of the night, around 3 am sometime, that we got our power back on, when my husband woke he went and finished entering my data in Mr Linky... is he great or what?

Loved your pics of your son... I remember doing very similar things to my little brother. Must be the older sister's prerogative. Have no worries, my brother turned out alright.

Right before my sisters one birthday party, I took the curling iron to my brothers hair. My dad was furious and took him immediately to get it buzzed off.

My son is in the middle of 4 girls. I could have written this post!!!

Mr Bump is 4 and has had his own Barbie dress for 18mths.

At first it was too long, so he had to hold it up with his pinkies in the air in order to walk.
In his pink fluffy high heels.

It's getting a little tight around the middle now, so we may have to look at something to replace it.

Like spiderman, maybe.

I'm giggling... because I can relate.

My son did the dress up thing and has even been caught playing with Barbie dolls.

But, since he's a high schooler now (and that's tough enough without Mom's help!) - I won't humiliate him with the photos on the net.

Now when he brings his first serious girlfriend home to meet me... it's fair game! Ha ha!

Blessings!

That is hilarious! My son is the same way. He has 4 sisters between the two houses, and it can't always be helped. But now, he is the most athletically gifted child I have ever seen!

Thanks for the great pictures!

Does your son want to go in halfsies on therapy with me? My mom did a number on my photographically speaking as well!

Thanks for the laugh and carnival!

My son likes to take the comforter off his bed, wrap it around his shoulders and proclaim he's a princess. And I don't even have any girls to blame that on. :O)

Darla said...

THAT is adorable! I can't even imagine the horror in your husband's eyes. LOL

K,

T-H-A-N-K-S!!

I appreciate the big-glasses award.

Can you BE-LIEVE that when I scold my mom for buying me those ugly HUGE glasses she acts like it was no big deal. WHA?!

My son suffers from the same ailment, as did my brother. I'm hoping to get Max interested in something really manly, like rugby or BBQ-ing to balance it all out.

My oldest boy dressed up in his sister's dress up dresses. Then we got him some boy dress up. But once my second son was born no more girly things :)

Also I never had a sister so I used to dress my little brothers in dresses and pretend they were my sisters!

My husband would be right there with yours - freaking out. :) He has specific ideas of proper boy attire/behavior. We don't have any girls, so there's no temptation to "dress-up". Poor kid. :)

Hopefully he'll forget that you posted these pictures on your blog by the time he reaches adolescence. Otherwise, he might want revenge! :)

Our daughter was 2 when our oldest son was born. He followed her footsteps for many, many years before realizing that he was a boy and had to man-up to teach his younger brothers the ropes. Thank goodness for younger brothers.

I know you are busy, but I tagged you for a meme (my first one ever!). If you decide to play, stop by my blog.

My dad caught my little brother in bed with pantyhose on one night. That was the end of my sister and I being allowed to play dress ups with him! I'm glad to say he went on to be a real STUD and no effects were permanent!

Happy Bday to your sweet boy.

How freaking cute! See, I don't see a problem with that. My oldest son LOVED playing in my make-up when he was 2 and 3. My husband and my son's aunt would freak out, but I just ignored them.

The Apron Queen said...

The soccer part cracked me up! Why is it that when boys are girly everyone freaks. But when girls are boyish, no one cares. ?? My daughters are the meanest, loudest & roughest little girls. People just laugh & say "Cute tomboys." Neither would be caught dead in a dress. I have to bribe the youngest with chocolate to bathe! Woe is me. I wouldn't change the m for the world. :D

Thanks for hosting.

My cousin's son has an older sister who is also super into princess and dress up stuff. Her son was also dressing up in his sister's stuff, until his daddy found out. He got a trunk of boy dress up clothes for Christmas, too!

Unknown said...

He has great taste in shoes! HA! Very cute pics!

This is too funny and all too common. I think most all little boys like what their sisters do. My step-mom has many pictures of my brother after we dressed him up like a girl. He is all 21 year old boy now.

I know my little guy will play with girl things and I can't wait until the day he is in a tutu and he speaks. I think I will die because he has developed that super low raspy voice like his daddy. We at first thought it was hoarseness but that was over a month ago. The kid just has a deep voice. Will go great in pink.
