Our summer vacations were dominated by road trips.

One of my first memories is of a very long car ride to Disney World, back in the 1970's. It must have been in the winter because our little Ford Pinto didn't have a heater and we kept warm with quilts.

Not something my kids excel at on our road trips these days. We've got the whole audiovisual thing going on in our minivan and a plethora of travel paraphernalia.

And I'm not about to change it. Because I like progression.

Longest road trip taken was from Southern Michigan to Southern Georgia to visit an aunt, who then went with us over to Northern Mississippi to visit then connect with a caravan going down to New Orleans, which we then parted ways with to go back to Georgia to drop off the travel mate, then back home to Southern Michigan.

I have some stories about our family trips to disneyland our were in a volkswagon rabbit with NO AC when it wasn't overheating we were sweating to death on the vinyl seats, lol. I wouldn't have had it any other way though.

My 9 month old already hates long car rides. I so miss new born babies and there sleep habits! We drive from Georgia to Orlando all the time, and this last trip was 65% tears.

Lots of sleeping bags for cushion, from Illinois to Florida, now that's an 18 + hour road trip!!
